What are 'strengths'?

When we talk to people about strengths, we tend to prefer a simple approach. We typically describe them as ‘an underlying quality that shapes who we are at our best.’

Your strengths help you perform at your best and be the best version of yourself. They energise you, give you an emotional boost and help you feel truly authentic.

How do I use the Strengths Cards?

There are loads of different ways you can usefully use the cards, whether you want to do some personal reflection, support others one-to-one, or run group activities.

The downloadable exercise guides above will give you some ideas to get started. There are just suggestions, and we'd encourage you to find your own creative ways to get the best out of the cards.

Who can I use the Strengths Cards with?

The Strengths Cards can be used with a wide range of people, to help them notice and appreciate the best in themselves and others.

They can be used with a broad range of ages and have had a positive impact on young people in schools, through to those nearing the end of their lives. Most commonly they are used with working age adults and teenagers.

We've heard many stories of the cards being valuable in development programmes, coaching, therapy, training, teaching and more.

Where can I find more resources or training options?

As well as the free downloads above, we're busy working on a number of additional resources and training options. As soon as they are ready, we'll add them to the Practitioner Hub.

Are there different versions of the deck available?

Yes, there are currently two different versions to choose from. Both have the same 48 strengths words and photos, but there are a few differences.

The Premium Edition comes in a sturdy box, which is ideal if you'll use the cards again and again. The cards are also a little larger, plus there are 7 additional cards that can be helpful in structuring activities, and a small instruction booklet.

The Essential Edition, which is only available in boxes of 10 or 100 packs, has slightly smaller cards and comes in a light-weight tuckbox.

The Essential Edition is ideal if you're looking to use the Strengths Cards in bulk, for example as a give-away at an event or as part of a development programme.

Who created the Strengths Cards?

The Strengths Cards were the very first card deck released by At My Best, back in 2014.

At My Best is the product brand of UK-based business psychologists Work Positive. Over many years, we've been producing high-quality, easy-to-use and impactful tools.
